Costa Del Mar
Product Design & Packaging
A collection of bags designed for a wide range of functions.
The project started with the team concepting two separate bag collections which we saw through to the first round of prototyping. A welded collection meant to be completely waterproof. A minimal, technical set of pieces meant for those who spend more time on the water than on land. The second collection was a more versatile set of bags meant for a wide range of applications. From the pavement to the sea to the sky these bags needed to be able to go anywhere. For the welded collection we designed a backpack, a waterproof pouch, and duffle bags. The street collection was two backpacks and boat bag.
We started with trend research which we compiled into presentations for project stakeholders. With direction in place, we began sketching for form and function. As drawings evolved we assembled presentations to keep our vision aligned with Costa. With solid direction in place, we engaged with factories and began working through prototyping. The welded collection dropped off because of costing, but the streetwear collection lived on. We tackled labeling, packaging and initial rounds of product language to build a story around the products.
