Branding, Photography & Website
Simplifying a complex online shopping experience for peak engagement.
Nautical North built its business through art shows, setting up brick and mortar locations and maintaining select wholesale accounts. Online sales were always flat. As a whole, the company relied solely on people in-person reactions to the products. We worked with the company to develop a brand around the product. This included naming, brand identity, packaging, in-store design, and a new website. For the web, we focused on user experience making sure there were no major dead ends in the shopping experience. We designed the site so there were two points of entry into the product. Customers could shop by state and view available charts for their home region or they could shop by product and filter the entire catalog alphabetically. Once someone selected a specific product and chart, all products for the correlating body of water appeared below. A convenient way of allowing discovery within the site. We handled product photography for all products and lifestyle photoshoots to give products a sense of time and space. Scale and detail shots were important to increase online conversions by those who had never seen the product in person.
