Woodhull
Brand Identity, In-Store Experiential & Digital
Bringing good vibes and good bites to a much-needed location.
The Windansea Club was born as surf competitions in California became increasingly popular in the 1960s. The club (or team) of surfers came together to join forces and consequently took over the surf competition scene up and down the California coast. When Woodhull approached the studio with the idea of building a laid, easy going SoCal style eatery in Yarmouth, Maine we found inspiration in the club along with other vintage surf memorabilia, typography, and beachside slang. Although Yarmouth is conveniently located 15 minutes from Downtown Portland, for whatever reason the blossoming Portland food scene has not made its way north to the quant well-to-do town. We worked with the new restaurateurs to develop the brand identity, consulted on interiors, designed menus, and built a simple website for the restaurant launch. Most of our time was spent crafting a logotype that was meant to look effortless and unrefined, yet balanced and scalable to all sizes.
